Re: Candidate questionaire question possibly creating religious discrimination...

We find it is much more complicated than that. Many do not want to amend the Constitution. Others may agree with the sentiment of the question but not want government involved in any way. With 100 question, our Focus Groups showed that a single question, excepting the ACLU funding question, ever caused a candidate to be eliminated. That said, any one could. This one done does, however, cause some real good conversation between candidates in the Selection Session.

Candidate questionaire question possibly creating religious discrimination...

Question 13 states "Will you vote to amend the Constitution to specifically affirm that we are a nation under God, that God is welcome in all that we do, but no man can be forced to participate in worship at any time or in any way?"

If you want to be a candidate, you have 2 choices: if you say "Yes", you'll probably join the majority of the others, and there'll be no problem. However, if you say "No", it's quite possible that other pro-religious candidates will attack you for it, taking advantage of the general discrimination against atheists and other non-believers. That isn't fair; no group of any type should be unfairly labeled and attacked just because of their perfectly rational beliefs. Will you delete the question or alter it so it doesn't encourage this unfair stereotyping? Let's all discuss this.
