Re: My Disenfranchisement With GOOH, A.K.A: Why I Decided to Leave

One last thing, amending my below post.  For new viewers, start with the first post by "mmkrei" and read up the page.

You state that Tim is pushing propaganda to sell his book.  Also, you state that he is quick to find error without solution.  However, you not only performed the act you denounced, you throw in a low blow character shot.

If you were a real supporter, you would know that Tim has never stated that he has the answers, nor does he want to run for office.  On the contrary, he has called upon supporters to determine the solutions to our political problems.  Also, if you really were a supporter, you would understand that Tim asks us to help mold GOOOH to be a better forum.  I should know, he used some of my suggestions to make GOOOH look more non-partisan.  One of my suggestions was a rather large change.

I am very conservative, but I know that we can never be a one party country.  That is communism, which we are on the road to become.  It is not one party leading us there, it is both.  Therefore, the people need to step-up and take back control of a system that was created to be controlled by us and for us.  The only way back to this is by taking money and power out of the hands of politicians, giving it back to the rightful owners, the United States Citizens.  This is why I, a staunch conservative, have tried to help mold GOOOH to be a more non-partisan forum built by partisan supporters.

I have lobbied more to my democrat friends to join GOOOH than I have my conservative friends.  I do not agree with most of their views, but it is not my place to decide for them.  Thus, we must maintain a two-party system.  However, as we have found, the two-party system has become broken under the current terms.  Power always wants more power.  The more we give it to them, the more they want us to give them, and at a faster pace than they took their original power.  This perception of the power being theirs needs to end.

Re: My Disenfranchisement With GOOH, A.K.A: Why I Decided to Leave

mmkrei,

My guess is that you will not read this, but your response should be addressed by someone other than a GOOOH founder.

Your "scud" seems to be in line with the extremist tactic of seek and destroy.  I see this in TV, on blogs and hear it on talk radio quite often.  You hide and wait until the opportunity arises to pounce on a topic that is meaningless.   Thus you did not join GOOOH to make a difference, you most likely joined GOOOH to create a difference.

GOOOH has never been a forum for unbiased politics, it is an unbiased forum for politics.  For this, I commend Tim and the other founders, regardless of their political leaning.  When people finally shake the brainwashed mentality, they will see that we are not trying to dissolve the two party system, but stomp out the corruption spawned by greed and power grabbers.

GOOOH is Tim's vision, and he has the right to spur conversation.  You may not agree with his outlook on issues, but his e-mail brought you to the website where you left a message.  Just because you claimed to be a member/supporter, you do not have the right to access the e-mail database.  Could you imagine how an all access pass to thousands of e-mails would turn out?  It would be an absolute disaster.

Instead, Tim has been working with some of the vocal members from this message board to submit future writings, for which he will send as an e-mail "blast."  This is not to censor valid content, but to keep people from being vulgar and distasteful.  I know this as fact due to his request that I write one of these e-mails.  Also, if there were more vocal democrats in this forum, I would urge Tim to seek their editorials before seeking ones from conservatives.  However, as I see it, conservatives are more prevalent in GOOOH because we are not happy following corrupt politicians, like most democrats.

As for 9-12.  It just so happens, I was listening to Beck this morning.  Oddly enough, a caller asked him to respond to accusations you stated in your e-mail regarding 9-12 being biased.  Glenn responded that 9-12 has never been biased, and he has never called for one party to join over the other.  Combined with the Tea Parties, his hope is that all voices, regardless of political leaning, join together to be heard.  Sounds familiar, does it not?  GOOOH is a somewhat identical call to action.  The difference, Tim started this by word of mouth, and he did not have a large audience like Glenn.

I have stated in many posts that people who find GOOOH the most offensive should be the biggest supporters.  Why?  GOOOH was designed so that your voice and the voices within your district can elect representatives who better represent the opinions of your majority.  Instead, we are currently given a candidate who purchased his spot on the ballot by taking money from special interest groups.  Thus, we don't choose our candidates, we vote for candidates who are chosen for us.  In my opinion, a person who wants to run for office today would probably do better by standing on the courthouse steps with a sign saying how much it will take for them to be bought.

Instead of acting like an upset child, without any rational behind outbursts, you should turn your difference into a new thread.  Better yet, you should have written Tim to ask how you could voice your differing opinion to the same e-mail list.  My bet, he would have asked you to write an editorial.  The exchange of intelligent ideas was the basis for GOOOH.  If this were an exchange of child like rants, I would not be here today, responding to your e-mail.  It is time for debate to get back to issues, as I am tired of one side getting their feelings hurt, and in turn, spewing hateful terms that have nothing to do with the issues.

Re: My Disenfranchisement With GOOH, A.K.A: Why I Decided to Leave

GOOOH's reply.

We're of course sorry you feel that way. While we do understand your point re Fox, we believe the 9-12 program has gone out of its way to be non-partisan. If you attend any of the 9-12 meetings you will see how "out of their way" they are going to be non-partisan. It is safe to say that many who consider themselves "Republicans" or "Conservatives" are not happy with the ways of the Republican politicians.

We also believe that GOOOH is a non-partisan solution. Tim is the first to admit that he leans to the right on many issues, but is also quick to point out that he leans to the left on many others, including the Environment, Health Care, and Death Taxes. As long as a group or site is not promoting one party, as long as it is supporting reasonable "ideas," we support it.

As far as promoting the book, you are very misguided. Tim is giving away thousands of copies of the book to help build GOOOH. If you would like a complimentary copy all you have to do is send us an address. It is documented that Tim walked away from a job making over $200,000/yr to launch GOOOH - that's an extremely large personal commitment. Perhaps you should talk to Tim on the phone and discuss in person. Send us a number and a time you are available and Tim will be happy to call you personally.

But, we will deactivate your account as you request. If you have a better solution for retaking our government let us know.

We hope you'll rejoin us. If you'd like your account activated so you can post, just let us know.

My Disenfranchisement With GOOH, A.K.A: Why I Decided to Leave

Readers:  Below is the letter I sent to GOOOH asking to be removed from their databases.  I don't ask that you agree with me, just that you try to understand my disenfranchisement.  Your opposing viewpoints are more than welcome, but I am afraid I may not be able to read them or to respond as I have requested to be dissaciated with GOOO.

To whom it may concern,
Regarding the newsletter sent out on 4/5/2009:
I wish to no longer be affiliated with GOOOH or its affiliates.  Your recent newsletter has demonstrated to me that not only are you out of touch with the non-partisan movement, but that you are also oblivious to party manipulation.  I speak of course of the conservative propaganda that are the "tea parties".
You are probably asking yourself "how is this a conservative backed movement"?  The answer is right in front of you!  Your own link (in the same newsletter) to the (as you stated) "non-partisan" Glenn Beck 9-12 Program.  Surely you are oblivious to who Glenn Beck, and what the 9-12 Program, is.  I frequently watch Fox News and it is blatantly obvious who is backing these tea parties and I am astonished that you would feed the flames to this conservative propaganda (I speak of both the tea parties and the 9-12 Program).
Everyone is frustrated with the "bail-outs" and the stimulus packages - I don't fully support them and I don't know anyone who does support them.  But in typical partisan politics the Republicans (and their failure to get the pork barreling they wanted while the Democrats instead got their pork) have fed on the American public's anxiety with these "tea party" movements and are trying to pit the American public against their Democratic rivals.  It is more than OK for the American people to be frustrated and protest against their government, but it is another thing entirely when one party is feeding this anxiety and forming these protests for their own ends.
The non-partisan movement will not work if we do not provide our own solutions.  This has been an issue of mine with previous GOOOH newsletters and is my issue with our current partisan government!  I am convinced that you, Tim, are a man quick to point out the errors in others but slow to offer solutions of his own.  Tim; solutions are what we are in need of today - not tea parties.  Solutions proposed by yourself as well as other GOOOH members should have been included in this and previous newsletters - NOT a shameless promotion of your book.
My suggestion is to provide solutions, not shameless promotion and propaganda - we already have plenty of this in our government.  The GOOOH election process is intriguing, and remains a very thoughtful solution to electing a non-partisan official, but after this and previous newsletters - I feel that it is a sham.

I hope your book does well
M.K.
