Re: GOOOH Congressman defecting to the Democrats or Republicans

new goooh here, Tim continues his steadfastness towards the premis of non-mainstream party affiliation with good cause....how can anyone in the dem party gravitate towards our party or movement. what we stand for is contrary to what they vote for on a consistant basis. our value system is opposite, probably most of our belief systems as well, i am personally drawn towards this idea because it reminds me of the founders......a movement not without opposing views but a much greater goal for the nation than we now have. i will be called a radical by some here and most where i work and live because i do believe this country is in a fight with it's own. many want the government to fulfill all their needs, i do not. makes me a right winger. truth is (and the truth hurts) the government cannot be expected to or demanded to do what people are asking them to.  supply health care as a right.....ok  what's next, a house (of course not)(but 10's of thousands live in gov.housing)  next free auto's..no-way! but you can ride the rta bus for free since other tax payers are paying for it. how long should i go on.....the system is broke, we must try a fix and this is a good way to get some honorable people in place to start fixing. GOD BLESS AMERICA, especially our patriots at war

Absolutely no offense taken. Your response is well written.

I just see things a little differently. Most things change, with time, and the defintion of political parties is no exception. There are many, many books written on the subject of how parties have transitioned and the stranglehold the Repubs and Dems have had in our lifetime is about to be broken; we are about to see a major shift in politics based upon the the proliferation of PCs and the power of the Internet. The control of these TWO parties is about to become as dated as the typewriter and the written letter.

It will take time to prove if I am right, but for now the only thing that matters is whether or not we can find 500,000 patriots who are committed enough to force the change. The behavior of politicians will likely get us to that number oh so quickly. Don't let the current paradigm restrict your thinking. Change will come when the people are ready - and I am certain we are.

Re: GOOOH Congressman defecting to the Democrats or Republicans

Tim,

You know that I am a very active supporter, so do not take this at heart.  I disagree with your response.  As I see it, we are going against the grain.  However, the two party system can survive within GOOOH, which is what I envision.  The only difference, GOOOH supporters will be the decision makers for each party, not a political figure perceived as a powerful figure head.

The best way to win support for GOOOH is by shocking the current system without making people feel as if they are losing their identity.  As I have told you before, a friend who worked in DC for the RNC stated he would be a republican for life.

GOOOH is a great process, and I think it will help candidates differentiate themselves by maintaining some sense of tradition.  A GOOOH Republican, or a GOOOH Democrat provides the public with a base sense of where someone stands on issues.  The difference will be in the community pact to uphold the will of the people and not special interest groups.

Personally, I consider myself a GOOOH Republican.  To me, that means I believe in what Republican used to mean, but I do not like what they have become.  GOOOH means a return of power to the people, and Republican means the general stance on issues.  This takes considerable guess work out of the process.  Each label is broad, but people relate to this broad label.

Except for extreme liberals, most people I know (non-politicians) identify with one party, or another.  Also, they generally have similar beliefs on what each party stands.  Furthermore, none of them feel that either party, to which they are affiliated, puts forth a candidate that fits the traditional label.  For the most part, they all agree that power, money and socialist media has changed the system over time.

People lack the belief that either party serves the people anymore, but they hope a shining light will appear.  Based on this assumption, they do not just ship.  Either the independent sway the boat, or members of a party will vote for the other party's candidate due to being mad at who their party put up, like our last election.

Re: GOOOH Congressman defecting to the Democrats or Republicans

Our candidates will run as GOOOH Party candidates. We are runnnig against politicians of both parties. 90%of America disapprove of the job Congress is dong, both Republicans and Democrats, and those are the vote we will capture. For the first time in our lifetime, we will have a true choice on the ballot against the incumbent who wins 95% of the time.

Please don't think of GOOOH as just another third party. The paradigm is about to shift, the truth will be proven when we have the consensus of millions.

I think I'm confused. I thought that GOOH candidates run under the
auspices of their chosen party but promise to vote within the limitations
of the questionaire thus gathering GOOH voters to their campaign. If
GOOH candidates are running outside of the established parties, I see
that as doing nothing but take votes from the Republican Party and
pushing us ever leftward. Am I missing something?

Re: GOOOH Congressman defecting to the Democrats or Republicans

I believe there are a few good and true people [somewhere] in Congress.  We need so many more as examples to hold up against the tides.

We have always been a good-hearted people.  Our goodnatured-ness has gotten us into this.

We want to be liked and to play nice with others.  There is a strong movement that has gather much momentum in leading us away from our best and highest ideals.  This is the current we are fighting against to right our Ship of State.

The more people who stand for our grandest dreams with heartfelt purpose and choose plain goodness the better off our country will be.

Re: GOOOH Congressman defecting to the Democrats or Republicans

Perhaps I am not understanding the point of GOOOH here.  I was under the impression that if someone who was Republican minded but still wanted change could join GOOOH and get elected.  Yes the person is a Republican, but they could still support the GOOOH movement.  I think this movement is for all types, conservative, liberal, Demicrate and Republican.  Its not about what you believe should be done on a certain issue, its about how you think people should be picked for office and how they should act once they get there.

I dont know about the rest of you guys, but if we had politicians who actually said and did the same thing we wouldnt be in the possition of having to create this revolution!  I am a pretty conservative guy and I would vote for a honest liberal, just because they were honest!  I think the main reason we eventually vote against someone is due to this, they say one thing and the next time they answer questions about that topic the answer has changed.  And to top it all off they act like they NEVER had another viewpoint on that subject.  I know people can change, that happens.  But not as often as it does in politics.

Now if we are talking about taking money from say the GOP after we get elected to run for office a second time without GOOOH backing.  Well, that’s what this process is hoping to get started controlling.  We will have another candidate ready to compete against them.  If the person who does that is honest and does what they say they will.  Not a big deal to me.  If they talk out of both sides of their mouth, then we need another GOOOH candidate to take them out of office.

Re: GOOOH Congressman defecting to the Democrats or Republicans

In the true spirit of all things politics, it seems to me that party affiliation is, in fact, covered under the definition of "special interest".  Hopefully, that alone would dissuade any GOOOH candidate from being courted into joining a mainstream party.  I wouldn't consider the GOOOH initiative to be a party since it is non-partisan.

Few of us doubt that that will happen. Those attracted by the power of office will always seek ways to maintain the power once they get it. That's why movements like VoidNow (suggests always voting against the incumbent) have traction.

GOOOH Congressman defecting to the Democrats or Republicans

Question:
What's to keep a GOOOH Congressman to defecting to the Democrats or Republicans, especially if he's seeking another term and it's unlikely he'd win the GOOOH selection process again?

Answer:
Nothing. In fact, that may be a perfectly reasonable course of action. The objective of GOOOH is to replace career politicians with representatives of the people. The people will always have the option of voting for a Republican, Democrat, GOOOH candidate, or anyone else that runs. If a GOOOH candidate opts to join a party, the people will ultimately decide if that is a good thing. GOOOH will have another candidate, chosen by the people.
