Why no questions on the War on Drugs or the Patriot Act?

I personally believe the War on Drugs is a failure, and that we need to retarget drug addiction as a medical and social problem instead of a criminal one. To me, the war on drugs is partially responsible for the increasing infringements of our rights. I think a question on this subject would be important. A question like, "Would you vote to end the war on drugs and create an initiative to treat drug addication as a medical and social problem?" would suffice. I mean, when we incarcerate more people for possession than for violent crime, something is really wrong.

Likewise, I think that a simple question paraphrasing Ben Franklin's quote would be a good one for the degree to which we are willing to go in order to try to secure our country: "Would you vote to infringe upon our constitutional rights in order increase the security of our country?" That one yes or no answer would make it pretty clear where one stands. And - to me - this is a critical issue.
